Personal Show in the Reeds Gallery at Deerfield Academy.
There are three principles of Architecture coined by Vitruvius in his De Architectura (Ten Books on Architecture). Vitruvius was the first western architect who recorded his wisdom during the Roman Republic. This exhibit focuses on the interpretation of one of those principles: “Venustas”. Venustas comes from the name of the goddess of love, Venus, and it means beauty in Latin. Vitruvius defined the importance of beauty in Architecture proportioned by human parts, which became the inspiration for Da Vinci’s Vitruvian much later. The collection of works here demonstrates the consideration of beauty in design, incorporating art with architecture.
